Places is a curated travel and city discovery app that helps you find restaurants, bars, hotels, shops, and things to do worldwide. Every recommendation is hand-selected by a global team of curators, so you don’t have to sift through endless reviews and rankings to find something worth your time.
Our philosophy
Places restores judgment to discovery.
The internet made every place findable. It did not make every place worth finding. We can locate anything now and trust almost none of it. Stars are gamed. Feeds are sold. The nearest result wins by default. While choice multiplied, confidence disappeared and taste eroded.
Places is a living library of the world’s most worthwhile places to eat, drink, stay, shop, see, and be well. Every place is selected by locals and experts whose standards are the standard. Not surfaced by algorithms or crowdsourced stars. Each recommendation is intentionally chosen, photographed as it actually feels, and ready the moment you need it, wherever you are in the world.

They also come from all over the world, so every city on Places has real, on-the-ground coverage behind it. They’re a mix of locals and well-traveled experts who each bring their own field’s eye, but share one standard: the research and experience to know a place is genuinely worth going to before it ever earns a spot on Places.

How we work
A living library.
The Places library is never static. Our curators track openings and closings, concept changes, relocations and one-off events as they happen, so what you see is an updated, accurate snapshot of the world. The restaurant everyone is talking about gets the same level of scrutiny as a local hole-in-the-wall with no social media, or a hotel offering something so specific you didn’t know to look for it.
